Sunset Motel

My wife and I spent the night here on the way to St. Louis, glad we stayed. It has old fashioned charm with modern rooms at a good price. The owner was very attentive and easy going but also made things easy for us.

Absolutely wonderful stay! Zero worries the whole time, everything was smooth, and the cleanliness? Chef’s kiss. A true hidden gem. 10/10, would stay again!

By far the best kept secret in Waterloo, IL. It definitely does not feel like a motel once you go into your room. Very clean and updated rooms! AND it's walking distance to literally everything there. There's a reason why this little motel is so highly rated. Come check it out!

Another solid choice, been here three times. Rates are very accommodating and plenty of food and drink choices nearby. Clean room, modern look, nice tv.

The Sunset Motel exceeded all expectations. A friend and I had booked this place after looking online for a place to stay just outside St. Louis as part of our road trip across America. We discovered it by pure chance and chose this quaint little town and unassuming motel due to the amount of bars within the town square. The town itself was the perfect distance from the city after spending the day in St Louis and would set us off nicely on our way to Nashville the following day. When we arrived at the motel, we were greeted by Scott who checked us in and gave us some directions on where the bars and eateries were, not that they were hard to find. The Motel is perfectly situated within a minute or two walk from the first bar. The rooms were more than comfortable, plenty enough space for two of us and our room had 2 queen size beds. Facilities were great in the room which were lacking in a few other higher chain hotels we stayed in. There was a fridge and coffee facilities, I may recall a microwave too, but cant wholly remember. The shower and toilet facilities were clean and the shower pressure was excellent. All in all, we were super impressed for what was a steal of a price in our opinion. Later in the evening we got to meet the owner, the lovely Pam and we could really feel she loved the business and wanted to do her best by it. She gave us a brief history of the town and explained how she took over the business from her mum who still stays at the property. We felt really welcomed and were saddened it was only the one nights stay as two nights wouldn't have been an issue with the amount of bars and eateries. This road trip has seen us visit a fair few place from Chicago to New Orleans via multiple stops along the way and this town and its people were a particular highlight. We will always remember our welcome to the town of Waterloo and the wonderful hospitality received from Pam and Scott at the Sunset Motel. Thanks for the memories. Love from Wales

The room was immaculate, not a speck of dust to be found! My sister had another room, and she had the same comments about the cleanliness. We loved having a ceiling fan and an exhaust fan in the bathroom. There were plenty of charging jacks and accessible electric plugs on the lamps. Good carpentry and fixtures were used when this sweet place was refurbished. Reservations, communication with the owner, check-in, and check-out were all seamless. Our only issue was that our 4-wheel drive truck was a little big for the parking spot. I felt like we were taking more than our allowed space, but no one complained. This little issue wouldn't prevent me from booking there again.

Have used Sunset before. Easy to book, room was clean and it quiet.

An unexpected gem in downtown Waterloo. The rooms were clean and exactly as described. Priced right and just 1 block away from Main Street where the food and beverage establishments are located. Would stay here again if I was in the area.
